This position will report to Director of Financial Compliance and Research and perform technical GAAP accounting research and other financial analysis as required. Position Responsibilities and duties:- Research and analyze new and proposed accounting pronouncements and application of existing pronouncements to complex business transactions, including due diligence reviews. Write white papers summarizing accounting requirements, application to the company, alternatives available and recommendation.- Prepare presentations of accounting treatment and recommendations and present to senior finance management.- Coordinate research findings and evaluation of alternatives with external auditors (DandT).- Update Company accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and other changes.- Provide guidance to sectors on implementation of accounting policies.- Perform technical review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q- Assist in annual audit of Corporate Office and review of consolidated Financial Statements with independent auditors.- Assist in financial reporting transition of newly acquired businesses.- Prepare and present technical accounting training on a regular basis.- Perform miscellaneous financial analysis as required.- Perform administrative duties as necessary Basic Qualifications:- BA Degree or equivalent and 3 - 6 years total experience in accounting (MBA preferred)- CPA, at least in-process (MBA preferred too)- Recent Big 4 audit experience (minimum senior associate level)- Moderate degree of technical GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience (IFRS and SOP81-1 knowledge a plus)- Basic computer and financial analysis skills, including use and understanding of spreadsheets- Excellent oral and written communication skills- Good executive presence- Self-motivated, yet functions well in a team environment- Strong project management skillsThis position will initally require the ability to travel to Los Angeles, CA during the corporate office transition to the Northern Virginia area.
